Some things just seem to pair perfectly together – like peanut butter and jelly, chips and salsa, or burgers and fries. But perhaps the most perfect pairing of all is Goldfinches and sunflowers.

We have quite a few of these these lovely blossoms springing up beneath the feeding station, courtesy of the seeds that the messy eaters let fall to the ground, and the Goldfinches love them!

These little bird beauties tend to wait until the flowers mature a bit, then they pick the petals to get easier access to the seeds and munch away.

They even perch on the back of the flower and use it like a table to dine on.

This little guy didn’t stick around long enough for me to snap many shots, but I’m hoping he will be back soon to continue his seed snacking!
