My hubby (who simply can’t take a trip to Home Depot or Lowes without returning with another flower to plant) has been humoring me by adding more blossoms that attract butterflies and hummingbirds to our front yard.
Like this butterfly bush. Β I was so excited when a Tiger Swallowtail showed up for a visit!
It’s still a bit early in the season, but I am hoping that there will be many more picture taking opportunities in the days ahead – especially later in the summer when the birds are molting and not very photogenic!
What a beautiful picture. You have your own little wildlife sanctuary. π π
I know – butterflies and chipmunks and birds, oh my!
Lovely photographs!
I can’t wait for butterflies! I’m still waiting for my birds to take a bath! Any tips to lure them in? π
They will get in eventually. It does help to have some shrub cover nearby though.
And now that I have seen one butterfly on the bush I am constantly running out front to see if another is flitting about!
Jodi, we’ve found that if the basin is too deep, the birds shy away, not sure if that may help?
thanks – it seems pretty shallow. Should it have lots of water or little?
Vic says about 2″ at the deepest part in the center.
awh! I have tooooo much in then – I have it almost full π Thanks!
Sure! I hope it helps!
No more than that. Is his suggestion.
going out to dump some π
I love butterflies! I think I’m going to have to plant one of those bushes too!! ππβ¨ Your photos are always a delight, Kathy! π
I found that I so enjoyed taking pictures of them last summer (in other people’s yards!) that perhaps we should try to lure some to our yard!
A gorgeous start with your wonderful butterflies, Kathy! Bless your bones and your husband’s too!
What a beauty!
Lovely! CanΒ΄t wait to see more butterflies!!! ππ
Kathy, the pictures are beautiful and such clarity!
I love taking butterfly pictures! I keep looking to see if any more are showing up. π
Fantastic photo, Kathy, can’t wait to see others that visit you!
